Short-Form App Performance Creatives — Test Assignments

Project Overview

This case includes short-form vertical app performance creatives created as test assignments during full-time hiring processes.

The focus was on building hook-driven concepts for mobile app promotion, combining fast-paced editing, clear visual hierarchy, and product-oriented storytelling within short formats.

Creative Breakdown

Video 01 (Conversational Sketch Ad)

Objective

Create a short-form performance creative for a mobile health app using a conversational, story-driven format.

The goal was to simulate a relatable real-life situation, capture attention through dialogue, and clearly introduce the core product idea within the first seconds.

Approach

Built around a scripted two-character interaction to mimic a natural conversation rather than a traditional ad.

The structure follows a clear problem–solution flow, using dialogue to introduce the concept while maintaining a casual, non-staged tone.

AI-assisted tools were used for character and scene generation, as well as voice synthesis for dialogue delivery. Final pacing, timing, and storytelling were manually refined to ensure clarity, engagement, and a natural conversational rhythm

Video 02 (editor / reels / templates)

Objective

Create a hook-driven short-form performance creative to promote a mobile app, capturing attention within the first seconds and encouraging users to explore the product

Approach

Built a fast-paced, hook-first structure using AI-assisted visual generation for rapid visual exploration and concept development, combined with stock footage and original montage.

Final composition, pacing, transitions, and storytelling were manually refined to achieve a clean, modern aesthetic and strong first-second impact.

Video 03 (narrative / transformation)

Objective

Communicate the value of a mobile app through a transformation-driven performance concept, highlighting how consistent user actions lead to visible results.

Approach

Developed a short-form narrative with a clear progression: problem → process → result.

AI-assisted character and body visuals were used to support the narrative, while motion, timing, subtitles, and UI integration were carefully structured for clarity and sound-off viewing.

Additional Explorations (Hook Variations)

Objective

Explore multiple short-form hook concepts aimed at capturing attention within the first seconds.

The goal was to test different creative entry points and identify approaches that could quickly engage the viewer and communicate the core idea with minimal setup.

Approach

Developed a set of independent hook-driven videos, each built around a distinct visual or messaging angle.

The variations explore different directions, including direct problem statements, everyday habits, transformation-based visuals, and abstract metaphors.

AI-assisted tools were used for visual generation and voice synthesis, while timing, pacing, and framing were manually refined to maximise clarity and first-second impact.
